Royal Challengers Bangalore Announce Rajat Patidar as Captain for IPL 2025
Royal Challengers Bangalore have announced Rajat Patidar as the next captain, and he will lead the team for IPL 2025, which is scheduled to start on March 21, 2025, and end on May 25, 2025.

Rajat Patidar is the 8th captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Rahul Dravid was the captain of RCB in the inaugural season of the IPL in 2008. Under his leadership, the team ended the season in second-to-last position. In 2009, Kevin Pietersen captained the team for 6 matches before being replaced by Anil Kumble, who was appointed as captain. Under Kumble’s captaincy, RCB reached the final in 2009 and the playoffs in 2010. Daniel Vettori took over as captain after Kumble and led the team for two seasons. Under Vettori’s leadership, RCB reached the finals again in 2011 but lost to Chennai Super Kings.
Virat Kohli was the long-time captain of RCB, leading the team for 9 seasons. Under his captaincy, the team reached the finals in 2016 but was defeated by Sunrisers Hyderabad. In 2017, Shane Watson captained RCB for 3 matches due to the unavailability of Virat Kohli. In 2021, Virat Kohli stepped down as the captain of the team. Faf du Plessis was appointed as the captain and led the team for three seasons. However, for IPL 2025, RCB did not retain Faf du Plissis, and Rajat Patidar will take over as the captain for IPL 2025.
